Portfolio ~ AcornRack redesign

AcornRack is a state-of-the-art Internet application permitting anyone to build a Web site, where the foundation is initially planted for them. The primary use of AcornRack is for “role-playing” where users write and playout a scene of different genres and settings. Each of the 16,000+ sites currently hosted enable users to realise and improve their creativity and imagination.

AcornRack desired a complete layout overhaul whilst gearing up for the release of the Web browser Firefox 3. The layout was required to keep to the colour scheme of the current Firefox logo and appeal to a mass market of primarily teenagers.

A collection of challenging obstacles

Many obstacles had to be hurdled in order to ensure the design was eligible for implementation. The site used a pre-existing XHTML markup which, under no circumstances, could be modified. This resulted in requiring a mindset of how the design would be pieced together in the Web sites current markup.

The timescale of the AcornRack project was very tight with a completed product required within 5 business days. Working hard and aspiring to produce a great looking and functional design, we managed to turn the project around in only 3 days.
